About the Katy Cavs Girls Lacrosse
Katy Lady Cavalier High School Lacrosse Club
The Lady Cavs High School team is for girls in 9-12th grades attending any of the high schools in the Katy and surrounding areas that do not have a team. We compete in the Texas Greater Houston Girls HS Lacrosse League South District Division II Varsity and JV. 2014 & 2021 District Champs!
About the Lady Cavaliers
In the fall of 2014, the Valkyries became part of the Katy Cavalier Lacrosse Club as a way to grow lacrosse in Katy, TX. This also marked the first year of the middle school program. With the merge, came the name the Katy Lady Cavaliers. Prior to this, the team was called the Katy Valkyries. The Valkyries team was formed in 2007 by Mike Jones and was led by head coach Liz Jones. The team began as a junior varsity squad then in 2012 the team elevated to a Varsity program and achieved a playoff berth in that inaugural season. Building on the momentum, the 2014 season resulted in the Varsity team's run to the City Championship game and the State Tournament!
The Lady Cav's Season
Our fall season is considered "Fall Ball" and runs September through December with 3 training days per week. In addition, the girls participate in a playday and two tournaments designed to evaluate and develop players. The spring season which is February through May is when the girls actual season for lacrosse begins and are expected to be 100% invested in practices and games. Again the practices are still 3 training days per week and usually one game during the week.
Sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect
The club believes that athletics can play a vital role in the development of young adults. The club’s mission is to provide an environment for players to compete at a high level while promoting the game of lacrosse through sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect.
